Why this policy exists: Australian immigration is a YMYL topic - Your Money or Your Life. People use this site when they are deciding whether to apply for a visa, which pathway suits them, how much it costs, and what happens if they get it wrong. A factual error on this site is not a minor inconvenience. It can cost someone their visa, their money, or their chance to live or work in Australia. We treat that seriously.
About Us

Who Runs This Site

Aussie Migration Guide is an independent immigration information platform founded and operated by Karan Rawat, a senior SEO specialist with over four years of experience producing content for Australian audiences. The site is not a migration agency and does not provide immigration advice.

Karan works alongside a small team of writers and editors. All content, whether produced in-house or contributed externally, is reviewed before publication. Migration-specific factual claims are cross-checked against official government sources before any article goes live.

Important: Nothing on this site constitutes immigration advice. Under the Migration Act 1958 (Cth), only a MARA-registered migration agent or an Australian lawyer with an unrestricted practising certificate may give immigration assistance. If you need personal advice about your visa, speak with a registered professional.

Our Mission

What We Set Out to Do

We exist to make Australian immigration information more accessible, accurate, and readable for people who are navigating the system for the first time. Government websites are authoritative but can be hard to read. Our job is to explain what they say in plain English, link directly to the official source, and keep those explanations up to date as policy changes.

We do not advocate for or against any immigration policy. We do not recommend specific migration agencies. We do not take positions on political or policy debates. Our role is to explain the rules as they are, accurately and without agenda.

Research

How We Research and Write Content

Every article on this site follows a defined research process before it is written or published:

1
Primary source review
We start with official Department of Home Affairs pages, the Federal Register of Legislation, and immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. These are the authoritative sources for visa fees, processing times, eligibility criteria, and policy.
2
Secondary source corroboration
Where relevant, we also refer to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the ANZSCO classification, Skills Australia Institute, and official state/territory government sources for occupation and nomination data.
3
Writing for general audiences
Content is written in clear, plain English. We avoid legal jargon where a simpler word conveys the same meaning. Every factual claim that can be linked is linked to the official source page it came from.
4
Editorial review
All content is reviewed by our editorial team before publication. Factual claims are verified against the cited official source. Content that cannot be verified is not published.
5
Publication with sourcing
Published articles include visible sourcing and a "last reviewed" date so readers can tell when the information was last checked.

Sources

Our Primary Sources

We rely on the following official sources for all migration-specific factual claims. We do not treat third-party immigration blogs, social media posts, or law firm content as primary sources.

Accuracy

How We Handle Errors and Updates

Australian immigration policy changes frequently. Visa fees are updated annually. Processing times shift. Occupation lists are revised. We do our best to keep content current, but we cannot guarantee that every page reflects the latest position at all times.

  • Each published article shows the date it was last reviewed. Check this before relying on any specific figure.
  • When a significant policy change occurs - such as a fee change, a new occupation list, or a legislative update - we prioritise updating affected articles.
  • If you find an error or outdated information, please contact us at aussiemigrationguide@gmail.com. We take corrections seriously and will review the article promptly.
  • Corrections are made in place and noted at the bottom of the article where material.
Always verify visa fees, processing times, and eligibility requirements directly with the Department of Home Affairs before submitting any application. Information on this site is for general guidance only.

Independence

Editorial Independence and Commercial Relationships

Aussie Migration Guide earns revenue through lead referrals to migration agents and, to a limited extent, through sponsored content and display advertising. Our editorial content is kept entirely separate from these commercial relationships.

  • No advertiser, partner, or sponsor can influence the editorial content of any article on this site
  • We do not recommend specific migration agencies in editorial content. Agent referrals happen through our enquiry forms and are disclosed separately.
  • Sponsored articles are clearly labelled as "Sponsored" at the top of the page. See our Advertising Disclosure for full details.
  • We do not accept payment to change editorial conclusions, remove critical information, or modify factual content
  • External links in editorial content are chosen for relevance to the reader, not for commercial reasons

Guest Content

Guest Contributors and Sponsored Placements

We accept a limited number of guest-contributed articles and sponsored placements. All external content is subject to the same editorial standards as our in-house content. We do not publish content that:

  • Contains unverified factual claims about visa requirements, fees, or eligibility
  • Constitutes or could be read as immigration advice
  • Is primarily promotional rather than informational
  • Is in an excluded niche (gambling, adult content, crypto, pharma, unrelated industries)

Sponsored content is always labelled clearly. We do not hide paid placements within editorial articles. For full details on how we handle sponsored content, see our Advertising Disclosure. For contributor guidelines, see our Write for Us page.

AI and Tools

Use of AI in Content Production

We use AI writing tools as part of our content production process. AI assists with drafting, structuring, and formatting articles. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and fact-checked by our editorial team before publication.

AI tools do not set editorial direction, determine what facts to include, or verify information. That responsibility rests with our human editorial team. No article is published based solely on AI output without human review against official sources.
